DSL Filters And Dial Tone

The reason you lost your alarm connection to your phone line is that when you got DSL service, they dropped Dial Tone to your house and converted it to A Data Signal. That is why they want you to install those little dsl filter converters at each phone jack.

We have 2 DSL filter options you can do to restore dial tone to your home security system.

Any questions please contact our support department at 800-309-1009

  1. Leave the DSL service the way it is and install the EXCELDSLRJ unit between the RJ-31X Jack inside your alarm panel and the cord that connects to your alarm system. Done. You now have dial tone restored to your alarm system.
  2. Leave the Alarm Panel RJ-31X & the Telco jacks in the house the way they were before you got, or get DSL.

    Then:

    1. Install the LPF200 Whole House DSL filter inside your Main House Junction Box. If you have a different box, or no room you can use the TA230-200 Additional box and filter combination.

    2. Remove all the Telco lines (Should be only 1-Pair which goes   to your Alarm RJ-31X Jack) from your house to the street, You then attach the LPF-200 to the street side by it self.

    3. Reattach The Red And Green Of Your RJ-31X to the Red And Green screws of the LPF-200, That will give you Dial Tone back to the Alarm Panel And The House the way it was before. You should not have to play with the wires that are Attached to the house phones at all. They are already connected to the Brown And Grey of the RJ-31X Jack

    4. (NOTE: Make sure you Leave or follow the RJ-31X Wiring For The Alarm Panel.)

    5. Run a separate Cat 5 cable from the Main house block to your DSL Computer Modem.

    6. Using only 1-pair of the Cat-5 cable, You then connect the LPF-200  dsl filter Red And Green flying leads, and the 1-pair to the street wires.

    7. Thus connecting the street Data directly to The LPF-200 and your computer's dsl  modem.

    8. Hence The LPF-200 Whole House filter will convert the Data signal from the street back to Dial Tone the way it always was before.
