Addressable Multiplexed Detectors

Addressable Multiplex technology is available by the use of the PC5200 Expansion module. The 5200 can connect up to 32 zones (sensors) to the control panel via a single figure 8 cable.

This figure 8 cable is used as a communication bus and each detector simply connects to it in parallel. The cable also supplies power to each sensor. The specially designed sensor cantains a digital transmission circuit that will transmit alarm, restorals, tamper and service information to the control panel. Each zone (sensor) has an individual address so that the control panel can interpret individual sensor data. The panel continuously polls each device on the addressable connection many times per second, providing excellent protection against sensor tampering. Each sensor draws around 3.5 to 4 milliamps of current and therefore many sensors can be installed to a single cable run. The major advantage of addressable multiplex technology is that there are huge savings in installation costs due to a reduction of cable, conduit and ducting requirements and also installation labour.
